Yeelight - 16million colors. Remote controlled

YeeLight is a LED light bulb made by Xiaomi, that is a highly respected brand from China. Maybe best known for their smart-phones... I myself  have a Xiaomi MI5 android phone. And I'm very pleased with the quality.

The YeeLight can provide you with 16million colors. You select the color and brightness by using your android phone.... I'm not sure if it works with iPhone.
YeeLight has built in WiFi and you connect it to your router (your home WiFi)
When setup correctly you can control the light using the android app "Yeelight". You can find the app in the google store.
You can even control the light when your not at home, by using the app.
You can also plan light(schedules) so you automatically turn on your YeeLights light bulbs. - Maybe good when no one is at home, so lights go on and off, so it looks like someone is at home.

Cost
Arround 19$

I'm told you can program the light to change color when you get a new e-mail or message in Facebook etc. - But i have not figured out yet how to do this.

Check the video below to find out more about YeeLight

Why i use gmail - part 2 (Google-drive)

Part 2: Is about google drive and other google products

Part 1: Why i use www.gmail.com - click link below
https://faroemedia.blogspot.com/2018/03/why-do-i-use-gmailcom.html

One very good reason to use Gmail is that you can use your account with Google-Drive , YouTube , Google Calendar and you can even use it to start your own Blog

You might have an hard disk for backing up your photos, documents etc. - It is a very good idea to save your files on google drive as well.

Online storage:
Google Drive is an online storage, so if your hard disks stop working, you can access your files on the Internet on Google Drive. - Google Drive is a "Cloud", so you can access your files from any computer in the world with internet connection.

Web based "Office":
Also if you have Google Drive you don't really need office programs like MS Office or LibreOffice because in Google drive you can create documents, spreadsheets, presentation etc.

If you create a document it will look something like this image below:

You can even share a document so several people can work on a document at the same time - just right click on a file and click share and then you can set share options:

Many formats for download:
You can download documents in many formats.
The most popular is probably PDF and Microsoft Word

Why do i use Gmail.com ?

Part one:

My first e-mail address was with www.hotmail.com It must have been around 1998... Back then spam-filters were non-existing or just useless.

I did not have Internet at home, so i checked my mail at school. Just over a weekend i got like 100 e-mails/spam, and if i did not delete spam for a week there would be thousands of mails, and it took a lot of my time to sort out what to delete and what to keep.

After a couple of years using Hotmail i switched to Yahoo Mail... I liked this mail better and there was far from as much spam, and i also liked Yahoo Messenger that had allot of chat-rooms where you could talk to people about just about anything.

There was this time that i wanted to see a log of log-ins to my e-mail... There was no way to see a log.... So I changed email service once again - I picked www.gmail.com
Gmail.com provides a log that shows which IP-address has logged in and at what time.

To see the log, just log in to your Gmail and scroll all the way down. On the right side you see the word "Details" - Click it and you will open the log.

The log looks like this:
Another clever thing about Gmail is that you get a warning if someone has logged into you e-mail on a different location/IP than usual.
Also there is 2-step verification, so you have to type in your password AND a code that is sent to your phone as SMS - This makes it very VERY difficult for anyone other than you to access your e-mail.

Conclusion:
I've used Gmail for many years now, and it is by far the best mail-service iv had. I don't know if I've got a single spam-mail in my inbox ever !
There is one thing i think could be better about the login log, and that is that it would not only show like the 10 last logins, but that you could select a date in a calendar to show logins at that day.
I will later blog about more benefits of using gmail/google products

Worlds biggest heart in the Faroe Islands?

Google Earth is probably something everyone knows about, but if you do not, then you should get it. You can zoom in to just about any spot on earth to see roads and buildings. Also there are streeview and 3D buildings in some big cities.
https://www.google.com/earth/

The World biggest heart - Found with Google Earth:

Italy may have the biggest boot, but you might see the world biggest heart in the village Hvalba in the Faroe Islands.
I found the heart after zooming in and out and turning things arround in Google Earth.

4 o'clock Hvalba

Some time ago now, I made a video of the village Hvalba recording at 4 o'clock once a month for 12 months.
You can see how the nature changes through the months, and how dark daytime gets in the winter.

Riffstation.com - Guitar play along

Riffstation is an excellent website if you want to play along the music with your guitar:
https://www.riffstation.com/

You can search just about any music/song you like, and Riffstation will deliver the chords.
The chords show up on the screen as you play along

I love this website... Great for when you are tired playing alone.

AntiVirus - Good&Free

Sophos Home - Free AntiVirus

https://home.sophos.com/
For a long time i have been using AVG AntiVirus Free Edition, and it was OK... In my opinion it was better than built in Windows Defender... But then i heard about Sophos Home

One reason i got Sophos was because it apparently is good against ransomware. - Ransomware can crypt all your files so you can't open them, unless you pay the criminals to de-crypt the files. - Since i love photography and take a lot of photos i would be very sad if my files got crypted.

I have been using Sophos Home for almost half a year now, and im very pleased with it.
I do a bit of gaming, and i don't think Sophos takes alot of your PC's resources.

You control Sophos through a website. You can add multiple devices to control. So if you got children using the computer, one option is to setup Sophos so their PC can't access content unsuitable for children.
